Turn your old MacBook into Art! This is a 2012 MacBook Pro which was the last Unibody model before being replaced by the Retina display series. This MacBook is still very much sought after despite it being 11 years old since it is the very last MacBook Pro with user upgradable RAM, a screwed in battery rather than glued in, and a SuperDrive for CDs and DVDs that can also be swapped out with a secondary hard drive. After this model, Apple changed the overall design of the MacBook with a less user upgradable friendly design. Once we retired this 2012 MacBook Pro, we went ahead and disassembled the battery, hard drive, screen and other parts of the laptop and then used a hot glue gun to mount it to a frame that we picked up from Michael’s. Now this computer has been repurposed into art and allows us to showcase the inside of older MacBooks to our walk in clients while we check them in for repair. We may end up making more of these computer art pieces to give a new purpose for older non working MacBooks. What ideas do you have for your old tech?
